Complete Stupidity

For months now, I’ve been looking at the News feeds and shaking my head in disbelief at some of the stupid things that people say and do, and also the general tone of news in general.

In my opinion, the only good things about the news is when they say “Good Morning”, “Good Afternoon”, “Good Evening” and “Good Night”. The rest of it is a diet of unrelenting crap, delivered with a sense of joy instead of despair.

I kept thinking that it would be hard to spot the brain cell, so this weekend I decided to create a new website and registered spotthebraincell.com. I then set out to design a logo because that’s one of the things I love to do most.

The next thing was to start building the website and to do that I needed some material, so I looked at the news and started copying the headlines.

The intention here was to find things that were amusing, like

The News page came together very quickly as there was a staggering amount of headlines to pick from. I was just looking for ridiculous, stupid or funny but as I started to look at the page

https://www.spotthebraincell.com/news/

I realized that what I had put together in just a couple of hours was, to say the least, disturbing.

News stories from August 8, 2021

When you look at all of these headlines together, you must come to the same realization that I have, and that is the world is falling apart around our ears and, unless we do something, the human race is doomed. You might think I’m exaggerating, but I’m not.

America is already in the middle of an Uncivil War. Right and Left have become so partisan and extreme that neither side will listen to anything the other side says. There are no shades of gray. Gun violence is at an all-time high; mass shootings are now not only a daily occurrence, but there are multiple occurrences every day. (On the July 4th weekend, at least 213 people were killed and 618 injured in more than 500 shooting incidents). If that doesn’t disturb you then you are

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I do lean more towards the left because I believe it is government's responsibility to help people in some ways; particularly medical care. Living in Spain, I am fully covered under their health care system and recently had to take advantage of it because I was in excruciating pain, but that’s another story

What bothers and disturbs me about the right wing is the degree of viciousness and hate, particularly from high profile individuals, such as

They are all

with the hatemonger-in-chief being Tucker Carlson, a vile, despicable human being. Honestly, I don’t know how any of these people sleep at night. They are so full of bile that you’d think they’d have stomach pain constantly.

By the way, I haven’t yet found anybody from the left that should be on this page but, when I do, you can rest assured that they will be added. We’ve got enough problems in this world without all this hatred.

Everybody has an opinion, but those opinions are not always correct. Just because you are right doesn't mean you are right. We need, as human beings, to be able to have discussions with one another, to express different points of view without fear of being shouted down or dismissed. In life, there are shades of gray, and we need to acknowledge and accept them.

But now we are getting away from the point of this story in that we should all be concerned about what is going on and do what we can to prevent it. Covid-19 has changed the world forever; it will never be the same again. Everything has changed, and none of it for the good. I am firmly convinced that numerous people have literally gone over the edge and have lost their minds; you only have to look at the headlines to know this is true

We all need to pay attention and do what we can. Now, for those who think that I’m a liberal do-gooder, that’s your opinion, but is that opinion coming from somebody who is able to look at things objectively or just from an extreme right wing perspective? What I think I am is an observer with a keen eye.

What can you do? To be perfectly honest, I don’t know. Maybe share this story with your friends or have them go to

And bookmark it. Every day there will be a new page of headlines; more insanity, more stupidity, more hate, more violence.

But we have to do something, or we really are doomed!
